Today I went out to brunch with my really good (and old – we’ve known each other for going on eleven years) friend Sara. It’s so funny – I never go out to brunch, or hardly do. BUT, it’s the only thing Sara and I do together. We’ve done in a dozen times I think. We eat, talk, then go shopping. We’re really great shoppers together. I always get a feeling like we’re in an episode of Sex and the City when we get together…we brunch and shop.

Well, I’m not going to have many more brunches with Sara – in June/July she’s moving to Chapel Hill, NC. To live with her amazing boyfriend and teach at what sounds like the most amazing school. She’s going to teach at a school where the kids HAVE to take their shoes off inside, the teachers all dress waaaaay down, and they have a school goat. GOD, I’m jealous. I want to be able to do something like that, but I’m too used to my large salary lifestyle. Someday I hope to get there…maybe not a school with goats and chickens walking around, but close.

I’m so happy for her. That makes three friends whose lives are changing or have changed recently…Sara’s moving to NC, Kate’s now living in San Francisco, and Devin’s off to Hong Kong. Boy.

I’m still here, sitting on the floor of my little apartment typing away. I’m such a homebody – I think that my life may end up mainly consisting of watching friends move all over the world but always knowing where they can find me. I like that.

Anyways, Sara and I ate (I was VERY hungover from the night before when I did a classic “Christine didn’t eat dinner and drank too much” move) and then went to Bed Bath and Beyond. I’ve saved up some money because I hated the way my apartment looked – all my furniture, etc., was a mish-mosh of stuff that I collected since college. I was embarrassed by it. I wanted my living space to grow up.

I have never shopped so hard in all my life. By the end of the thing I had been to ever crevice of BBB on 61st street – which is HUGE – and had two carts of stuff.

And now, I can invite Marc (or anyone else) over and my place won’t make me come across as a preteen. But, I haven’t heard from him since our last date, so who knows if he will ever make it here.
