Waiting is really hard to do. The day after tomorrow I’m getting a house guest. I’m excited…and this week is going soooo slooooowly.

I’m running out of things to write. I’m feeling really down in the dumps, and as a result, my creativity is shot to hell. I could write about how depressed I am, how I need to work on so many areas of my life, but that’s boring. I have journals FULL of whining and pissing and moaning.

So instead, I’m going to make a list:

Things I love about New York City (remember that my creativity is shot)

1. Listening to a child’s verbal observations on my commute to and from work on the 6 line.

2. That even though NYC is one of the biggest cities in the world, you still run into people you know (this can also count as one of the things I hate).

3. Driving in a cab through Times Square at night and being transported to the middle of the day as the neon glare masquerades the night sky.

4. The weekend energy is palpable by 3PM on a Friday.

5. That cab driver who told me that he’s also a model.

6. Being able to buy pretty much anything off the street

**And as my friend Sara told me, you can always where you are uptown – on the upper west side, street vendors sell books, on the upper east side they sell knockoff designer purses.

7. Witnessing others break the “all New Yorkers are assholes” belief in little gestures of kindness they think no one sees.

8. The fact that my parents are only a short train ride away

That’s all I guess. Going to bed.
